BUSY BUSY BUSY

Busy is the word of the month for me.
But i am happy to say that as from the 1st of july i will be a business owner..i am pretty happy with my business and am still in shock at the fact that everything that i wanted to do has actually happened.
I'll put more info on the business in my next blog.

I decided to go my own path rather than work for another orgainisation for the main reason as that im my own boss and can make my own choices.

I will still be working for the australian sports commission on a casual basis, but right now it's not want i want to do on a full time basis.

So that's the news for the moment...next week im off to a soft tissue convention in sydney so that's gonna be fun and a good chance to catch up with my old class mates and have a few reds.

Till next time...Cam

School is finally over

Big Pattie and i...the palpation nation 2009

Just a quick note to say that i have finally finished my course...its been a quick 18months and im happy to be no longer a student.
Now i must focus my energies on building my business...most of which is complete and am just waiting on my health care provider numbers to arrive.
My soft tissue business will be based in pascoe vale at a private clinic and also in the city.
I have been able to hook up with some amazing therapist's and organisations who have helped me along and find my way.
I will also be looking at working with the institute of sport again and build my elite athlete skills in a hope to get a slot in the soft tissue team at the coming 2012 olympics in london.
Its a great time for me now and i just cant believe how everything is working out for the best..it just seems as if the phone never stops ringing with new oppertunity's.

On the cycling front...i will take a break for a few weeks and just concentrate on my business and will resume in july with a focus on a good august - october.
Plus i have a few break up parties that i need to attend and unwind aliittle and get sauced up!

Till next time, cam:)

BACK TO RACING

The last few weeks have seen me nack to road racing after a 18 month break due to injury.I had a good solid crit season which i was pleased with, but now its back to the real stuff.
My first race back was the cram memorial an 85km handicap out near the you-yangs...but luckily in the flat area.Being off scratch it was hard and fast from the gun and i coped fine withthe pace until the last 15km's when my left glute started saying hello and provided me with a few nice jabs of PAIN....The scratch bunch never got up and we missed out on catching the limit bunch(25 minutes ahead) by 2 minutes and 4 seconds...ouch
I ended up with 5th fastest as my sprint is as fast as a dead fish atm...our time for the 85kms was 1hr45 min...ouch

The first big race of the season for me and especially the Team was the phillip island gp raced on the same circuit as the moto gp...hence the name..It was a big test for our Solid Duro Strada team as we were up against 40 other teams with a few pro teams chucked into the mix.
Our team was slotted into B grade as we are still fairly unknown in teams racing..this didnt really matter as both grades are raced together.
The race was 125kms and consisted of 25 laps of the GP circuit which was butter smoothe.
I was ordered to sit back in the race for the first 12 laps with Craig Roberston while Oli and Andy Aquilina were to go on the attack and try to get in the early break.
It was pretty obvious that nothing was staying away and at around 5 laps in Oli said goodbye as his form is well and truely not here yet.....
At about 8 laps in i decided to have a sniff around at the front and found myself glued to pal and Pratties pro team rider Dylan Newell...with 8 guys up the road Dylan attempted to bridge the break with Cam trying to breathe and hang on....to say Dylan did brigde in a gutsy move and myself getting popped at the top of the hill when we were about 50 meters off....
The break was eventually brought back with 2 to go and The Egan of the Titans team took the win ahead of Pratties pro Marwood...the team ended up with andy and Craig in 36st and 38th and i limped home in 92nd place@34 seconds.
It was a hard return to teams racing....but the team was rewarded with 2nd place in B grade on equal time and we made some nice cash from being allocated to the lower grade so i say lets stay here for a while and let the piggy bank grow!!
For me its still a matter of getting back into consistent racing and training and most of all having fun.

change is good,

CHANGE IS A GOOD THING

I have been told to write a new blog by quite a few people and am now living up to my promise.
As i said in my last post things have been going pretty well for myself lately,on and off the bike.
I know i always say this but yes!!!i am still injury free and im not looking back anymore.
I'll give you guys the quick low down on what's been happening off the bike.....well i am only 6 weeks away from finishing my course and will soon be a certified Remedial Massage Therapist..its something im really proud of as it proved that ive actually got some smarts..hehe
In the massage news i have been offered alot of employment in the industrie and i have gotta say that i have no idea where i am going to work...but i do know that my education journey hasnt even begun yet and i will hopefully go onto further studies in physical Therapies.
On a personal level it has been a rather interesting time for myself...I have spent alot of time lately with some very successful people as part of a scholarship program i was selected for by my University for being a procative student...as the Head of school put it.
These people range from Business leaders to motivational speakers...to say it was a rather interesting experience and i feel really happy to have been part of this school project.
The main thing i learnt from these people was to not associate with people who influence you badly or talk of you in a negative way...so i guess i have recently done a bit of a friend flush and as i was told you really do feel much better when not surrounded by these types of as the spanish call them wolves...lol
THE TEAM
Duro Strad has been going really strong...the team has taken some major changes in the last month with the inclusion of some new riders and the exit of some old....its really amazing just how quickly our team structure has been improving and moving into more of a core team structure and not half a team of racers and half a team of posers.
With our new team manager everything seems to be running alot smoother and everyone seems really happy...myself included.
The team started its season alittle later than planned with Th e Anzac Day criterium where Rhys Smith,Andy Aquilina and myself lining up....The race was a great chance for the teams 3 leaders to strut our stuff with Andy Placing 15th and myself in 8th with Rhys with drawing due to sickness.
The whole teams focus now focuses on the footscray tour as Aquilina and Smith targetting this as there main race oof the year and the rest of us willing to make sure that happens for one of them.
So its busy times right now and exciting times....so watch out for results of the team and wait for the results to roll in.

GoodRide, Cam

Its been a while since i have done a write up,so heres the run down of the summer.I have placed in 10 races either being 2nd or 3rd...which has been alittle unsettling but im happy to atleast have my racing legs back.
The main thing is that i have been able to race most of the summer criterium season uninjured...which i can say is a HUGE relief.
The Duro Strada team has been going well with Andrew Acquilina,Rhys Smith and myself being the only team riders to represent in any of the races.
We have become a tightnit unit and hopefully the team will be adding some new blood to the squad to make it more interesting for us 3.
I am taking it easy now and am beginning my road season prep now at an easy pace...as im looking at going really well in june/july.I guess only time will tell.
Here's some photo's of my last few races...actually november to january.
ciao,cam.
